Documents

Datasheets and manuals, by model.

Only reviewed documents are published. Each one shows its type, language and revision, so you know which version you have.

No reviewed documents are published yet. Datasheets and manuals appear here once they have been checked, so ask for the current version of yours.

Installation & connections

How it installs. How it connects.

Plain answers first. Open “Technical details” for the engineering view. Exact limits depend on the model: check its page or ask an engineer.

Install

Clamp-on sensors

The sensors strap to the outside of the pipe, so the pipe stays closed: no cutting and no draining. The pipe must be full of liquid where the sensors sit.

Have ready Pipe outside size Wall thickness Pipe material Lining, if any Liquid and temperature
Technical details method, spacing, mounting
Method
Transit time on a V path: both sensors sit on one side of the pipe, and the sound reflects once off the far wall.
Sensor spacing
Set from the outside diameter, wall thickness, pipe material, lining and liquid.
Contact
Clean the spot, remove loose paint or rust, and use coupling gel between sensor and pipe.
Position
A straight run away from bends, valves and pumps. On horizontal pipes, mount at the side: air collects at the top and sediment at the bottom.
Lined pipe
Support per model: not confirmed yet. Ask an engineer.
Insertion
Also available as insertion versions, which go through the pipe wall: D118, E5E.

Connect

PoE · Power over Ethernet

One Ethernet cable carries both power and data. The meter sends its readings over your network, to MeterTube or straight into your own software.

Have ready A PoE switch or injector An Ethernet cable to the meter A network address for it
Technical details cable, data, power
Cable run
Up to 100 m from the switch: the Ethernet limit.
Data
HTTP and MQTT, on models whose reviewed specifications list them.
PoE class
Not confirmed yet.
Other power
Whether a model also takes a separate DC supply: not confirmed yet.
Connect

LoRaWAN wireless

Long-range, low-power wireless for places where running a cable is hard. The meter sends its readings to a LoRaWAN gateway, which passes them on to your network server and software.

Have ready LoRaWAN coverage at the meter A gateway and network server Your region’s frequency plan
Technical details network, frequency, data
Path
Meter → LoRaWAN gateway → network server → your application.
Frequency plan
Per model and region: not confirmed yet.
Data format
Payload and activation details: not confirmed yet. Ask an engineer for the integration notes.

RS485 · 4–20 mA

Wired connections that building and industrial control systems already understand. RS485 carries the readings as Modbus data; a 4–20 mA output sends one reading as an electric current.

Have ready A shielded twisted-pair cable The Modbus address and speed The flow range for 4–20 mA
Technical details Modbus, current loop, outputs
RS485
A two-wire bus. Several devices can share it, each with its own Modbus address and the same speed (baud rate).
4–20 mA
4 mA stands for the bottom of the configured range and 20 mA for the top.
Other outputs
Some models add pulse and relay outputs: see each model’s reviewed specifications.
Register map
Per model: not confirmed yet. Ask an engineer.

No network at the pipe? P118i, P116, P117 show readings on screen and store them on the device.

Common questions

Short answers.

Still unsure about your site? An engineer can answer for your pipe and connection.

Ask an engineer →

Can I measure without cutting the pipe?

Yes, with a clamp-on model: the sensors strap to the outside of the pipe. Some models also come in insertion versions, which go through the pipe wall. Each model page says how it installs.

What does Power over Ethernet (PoE) mean?

One network cable carries both power and data to the meter. At the other end of the cable you need a PoE switch or injector.

How is thermal energy different from flow?

Flow tells you how much water is moving. A thermal energy meter also measures the supply and return temperatures and uses them to calculate heating or cooling energy.

Which details help me choose a meter?

The pipe’s size and material, the liquid and its temperature, and the data connection you need. The model finder narrows the range from there.

Are the readings in the animations real?

No. The flow, velocity and time-difference values in the “How it works” animations are illustrations, not measured data from any model.

What does “Not confirmed yet” mean?

A value is published only after it has been reviewed. Where a detail for a model is still being checked, the site says so instead of guessing. An engineer can tell you where it stands.

What these terms mean
DN
Nominal pipe size, roughly the inside diameter in millimetres (DN50 ≈ 50 mm).
Clamp-on
Sensors strap to the outside of the pipe. No cutting, no shutdown for installation.
PoE
Power over Ethernet: one network cable carries power and data.
HTTP / MQTT
Common ways for a networked device to send readings to software.
LoRaWAN
Long-range, low-power wireless. Readings travel through a gateway to a network server.
Modbus RS485
A wired connection widely used by building and industrial control systems.
4–20 mA
An analogue signal where the current represents the reading.
